The Masterwork Camerata

Picture
A chamber ensemble comprised of members of Masterwork, The Masterwork Camerata is a highly selective, mixed choir of 15-20 voices chosen by audition from the full chorus. The Masterwork Camerata performs both its own individual concerts and, when appropriate, as part of full Masterwork Chorus concert programs. Leadership of the Camerata is shared by Masterwork’s Music Director Andrew Megill and Associate Conductor Sun Min Lee.

The Masterwork Camerata performs challenging repertoire. Its members are experienced singers with good vocal and sight reading skills and a passion for ensemble singing. The Camerata rehearses in preparation for each concert (about 10 hours of rehearsals per concert), but members are expected to do most learning on their own outside of rehearsals.

The Masterwork Camerata has two standing engagements in its program year:

       · In early December as part of the Sisters of Charity’s annual Christmas event for friends and family,
at Holy Family Chapel on the campus of the College of St. Elizabeth, including works chosen for
the occasion and also carols to be sung with the audience, and

       · A spring concert, either as part of a Masterwork Chorus program, or as a stand-alone entity.

In addition, The Masterwork Camerata is available for paid performances in settings consistent with the mission of The Masterwork Chorus.

To learn more about engaging the Camerata, contact the chorus at info@masterwork.org.

Camerata and Family Promise

The Masterwork Camerata recently did a recording for Family Promise, a non-profit organization whose mission is to help homeless and low-income families achieve sustainable independence. They principally work through church congregations in 41 states (and growing) by identifying and helping care for people in need.  Family Promise is headquartered in Summit.

Carolyn Winfrey Gillette of Family Promise wrote new words to a familiar hymn (Immortal, Invisible, God Only Wise) to put Family Promise's mission into song, and the Masterwork Camerata was asked to record it for them.
